What is this? In this systematic review, the authors searched for studies of psychotherapy teleconsultations among patients with COVID-19. They searched in December 2020 for articles published in English or Indonesian. The authors found two studies from China (89 people).

What was found: One study was internet-based, the other used WeChat for individual counselling. In both studies, teleconsultation reduced anxiety and depression in patients with COVID-19.

Implications: The authors stated that teleconsultations offered several benefits and could be applied more broadly to support psychological well-being.

Other considerations: The authors of the review did not discuss their findings in the context of issues relating to health equity.
