Citation: Noorimotlagh Z, Karami C, Mirzaee SA, et al. Immune and bioinformatics identification of T cell and B cell epitopes in the protein structure of SARS-CoV-2: A systematic review. International Immunopharmacology. 2020;86:106738.

What is this? Information on the immune and bioinformatic identification of T-cell and B-cell epitopes of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is important for vaccine development.

In this rapid review, the authors searched for studies of the immune and bioinformatics identification of T-cell and B-cell epitopes in the protein structure of SARS-CoV-2. They restricted their searches to articles published in English and did the most recent search on 24 April 2020. They included 13 studies.

What was found: At the time of this review, the included studies suggest that B-cell and T-cell epitopes could be introduced as potential targets in the development of peptide vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.

At the time of this review, the included studies showed that B cells and T cells are important arms of the immune system against pathogens and that the activation of these epitopes plays an important role in the body’s defenses.
