Elevating the importance of cold chain integrity in global health policy, disease reduction and health care cost management
Citation: Moore E. Elevating the importance of cold chain integrity in global health policy, disease reduction and health care cost management. Annals of Global Health. 2015;1(81):78-9.
Summary: This literature review and meta-analysis demonstrated the importance of cold chain management; an Ebola outbreak is an example where cold chain management can improve disease containment.
Results confirmed that cold chain breaches are a global issue in a range of situations, potentially causing disease outbreaks, adverse events and inaccurate diagnoses, and collaborative working on policy in this area would be beneficial. The meta-analysis included published and scholarly studies, references in the popular press and interviews with public health leaders.
Note – this is a short report of a study on a wide range of diseases and therapeutics, referencing Ebola.
