An RT-LAMP system is particularly suitable for resource-poor settings, where centralized laboratory facilities, funds, and trained personnel are in short supply, and for use in doctors’ offices, clinics, and at home.

To test molecular diagnostics as an effective means to detect Zika Virus (ZIKV) soon after infection and throughout pregnancy.  A bench top RT-LAMP (reverse-transcription loop-mediated amplification ) assay was developed to test zika virus spiked saliva samples from normal volunteers and compared against standard bench top RT-PCR. Five experiments were preformed per test. No diagnostic accuracy data was provided. The number of positive tests was given.
