There is insufficient evidence to inform on the use of surgery or the best surgical intervention for distal tibial metaphyseal fractures in adults.

The main options are intramedullary nailing, plate fixation and external fixation. There is a lack of consensus regarding the best surgical management of these fractures. This review assessed the effects (benefits and harms) of surgical interventions for distal tibial metaphyseal fractures in adults.
