Canadian recommendations on the prevention and treatment of Zika virus: Update
Zika working group on behalf of the committee to advise on tropical medicine and travel (CATMAT)
The guideline concerns the prevention and treatment of Zika virus infection. It is intended for health care professionals who provide advice to Canadians who may be impacted by Zika. The guideline covers advice on travel to risk areas, prevention of mosquito-borne and sexual transmission, screening, management and treatment of Zika. Recommendations are conservative given the uncertainties about Zika’s impact on travellers. This guideline was developed by a working group of the CATMAT based on literature review and clinical judgment. CATMAT will update its recommendations as new information becomes available.
